Mom, Aunt Deb, and Kaelee visit to NY

Mom, Aunt Deb, and Kaelee came to stay with us before Christmas. Kaelee went to the American Girl store and had her doll's hair done and ears pierced and then they had a luncheon. We went to Macys to tour the North Pole and see Santa. Kaelee and Aunt Deb took the Long Island fairy to view the Statue of Liberty.

Gary and Jennifer's visit to New York

Gary and Jennifer came to visit this week. We went to see Dust, Avenue Q, and Rock of Ages. We all highly recommend everyone going to see Rock of Ages if they visit New York. On their last night, we waited 4 hours to eat dessert at Serendipity. All of our desserts were HUGE especially Rocky's Outrageous Banana Split.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Thanksgiving Dinner

Mom and Cameron came to New York for Thanksgiving this year. We went to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and then Crystal and I cooked dinner. Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving and the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend.

Mom and Dad visit New York

My mom and dad visited New York last week. It was my dad's first time in the big city. A few places we went to include: Citrus, Time Square, Central Park, Strawberry Fields, Porterhouse Steaks, Top of the Rock, Rockefeller Center, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Battery Park, Wall Street, Brooklyn, Grimaldi's, Crumbs, Chinatown, Little Italy, John Lennon art exhibit, Shake Shack, Museum of Natural History, and Freddie Peppers. We visited so many places while they were here, we are sure they need a vacation from this "vacation". We celebrated my parents’ 26th wedding anniversary on Thursday at Porterhouse. Rocky and I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the time.

Vacation to Greers Ferry Lake and Eads

Labor Day Week went to the big city of Greers Ferry for our summer vacation. Despite the 3 day rain we managed to have great weather the first 4 days and last 2. A lot happened while we were visiting, Kristen and Curtis Davis had there baby, Tommy and Heather got engaged, Lily wake surfed with Rocky, the bilge pump went out on the boat, Cotton tore ligaments in his foot, the family went house shopping, we did laundry and it was NOT in a laudromat, and we drove to the lake from Memphis twice in the middle of the night. We ate just about every meal we have been craving since we moved to New York. We had a great time at the lake with everyone. We only had one day in Memphis, so we filled it visting our granparents and Tommy. We wish we could have seen more people. Hopefully we will get down before May and be able to visit more and get some of Mamaw's fried chicken and mom's chocolate cake. In the meantime we welcome any visitors the the Big Apple.

The Shake Shack is a little place in Madison Park that has great burgers. Since it's one of the few places in New York with good hamburgers there is always at least a 30 min wait. You can check out the line here.

Cameo, Lindsey and Nick came to NYC

Cameron, Nick and Lindsey came to New York. It was our first attempt at being tour guides. Thanks to Lindsey and Bubba, we ate at a wide variety of places. Over their 5 night 4 day stay we ate chinese at CHIAM, Pizza in Little Italy, Porter House Steaks, Rakuu sushi, Times Square cheesecake, Citrus mojitos with Latin/Asian dishes, local street hot dogs, street fair watermelon, and finally two trips to Crumbs for awesome cupcakes. We all went to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Natural Museum of History, Battery Park, 5th ave shopping, Central Park and the MET. Cameron, Lindsey, and Nick stayed at the Radisson on Lexington.

Laundry Day

Crystal and I had to go to a laundry mat for the first time. Who would have thought you’d have to come to one of the greatest city in the world to rely on window units and laundry mats.

After the Fire Works

This is a picture of everyone leaving the fireworks that turned out a lot cooler than we expected




After the fireworks, we walked from FDR Blvd (23rd and 1st) to Times Square (42nd and Broadway). Then, after we picked up some ice cream, we walked all the way home (75th and Broadway). I haven't run the numbers, but that's a LONG way.

New York City Waterfalls

Olafur Eliasson's four "New York City Waterfalls," a $15.5 million public art project, opened in the New York Harbor after two years of planning. It just opened today so we haven't gone down to see it yet, but I hope to make it down to see them this weekend.

This is the apartment after the movers left. We've since unpacked, but it was alittle tight for awhile.

Ground Zero

Crystal and I stopped by Ground Zero. Even though it now just looks like a construction site, seeing it really repisses you off. It is an enormous area; they are actually building 5 towers to replace the original two. Here's a picture we took and a link to what it is going to look like.

New York Philharmonic

The New York Philharmonic played a free concert at the Great Lawn in Central Park. There were a TON of people there. I'm not sure if all the people were there to appreciate the music or to be seen with their cheese and wine. Regardless, the concert was great and for the price you can't beat it.

Battery Park

On our way down to Battery Park, we stumbled upon an antique car exhibit. It was mainly for old cop cars, but the original Batmobile and the Starsky and Hutch car were the coolest.

Porter House

Last weekend we ate at Porter House New York. It's an awesome steakhouse in the Time Warner building. Appropriately, we both had a NY strip and surprisingly Crystal liked the baked Mac and Cheese and I did not...a very rare occasion.
